Picnic Must-Haves: Yeti and Vin-Glace
May 10, 2018
Recently, we decided to have a “real” picnic out at a park in Houston. In retrospect, I don’t think we were meant to bring in glassware (or wine, for that matter), but the picnic essentials still hold! These would be perfect Mother’s or Father’s Day gifts, particularly for those of you who live in warmer climates like us or like to drink cold wine outside!
Without further ado, our boozy picnic must haves are:
- Yeti: We have this Yeti cooler that we received as a gift. We absolutely love it – it is pretty roomy, but not overly large like some of their coolers that you can’t really just transport with much ease.
- Vin-Glace: This is a must, picnic or no picnic. We found the Vin-Glace at the Nutcracker Market, but all kinds of stores in Houston sell it as well as online. It was created by a Houston couple for keeping your wines cool so you don’t have to deal with ice or running back and forth to the fridge. In the summer, the temperatures are so high that a cold bottle of white will warm up well before there’s a chance to finish it all. I also just love the way it looks – you keep it on the bottle the whole time and it’s very convenient for pouring – not too large. The only downfall is that it doesn’t fit all bottle shapes – it wouldn’t fit the typical Pinot Noir bottles (which you wouldn’t be chilling anyway) or champagne bottles that are very fat on bottom (it does fit Veuve!).
- Don’t Forget: A cork screw, glasses and plenty of snacks for your little ones!
Happy picnic and Happy Mother’s Day!
